In an e-mail exchange with Jim Turner, I waxed metaphorical, and for what it's worth I thought I'd share it. First, a double aside: Jim Turner (newly added to the blogroll) is one of the busiest bees in this blogosphere, with projects including www.onebyonemedia.com, www.bloggersforhire.com, www.thebestofblogs.com, www.theparentsplanet.com, and www.blogonomics.net. As for the photo, it's from the New York Botanical Garden annual Holiday Train Show where area landmarks and buildings are recreated out of plant matter.
On to the metaphor:
The blogosphere reminds me of how I felt about New York City when I first moved here 5 years ago or so: it's vast, it's daunting, there's a ton going on that I'll never be able to keep up with, and I spent quite a few years looking at this and wondering what the big deal was. Yet I'm also pretty confident I'll be right at home here.
It's good to be home.
